Fort Lewis Lodge is hosting works of eight Vander Zee Gallery Painters beginning June 14. The artwork will be on view at the lodge until the end of the summer. The opening reception is Sunday, June 14, 5:30-7:30 at the Lewis Mill, 603 Old Plantation Way, Millboro, Virginia.

The Washington DC area-based Vander Zee Gallery Painters have spent time annually at the Lodge painting the beautiful scenery. Inspired by the lush environment, the eight artists have varying approaches to the landscape ranging from representational to the abstract. Painters Katie Cassidy, Jill Finsen, Gary Fisher, Roberta Gottesman, Bill Smith, Rob Vander Zee, Nancy Varipapa, and Scott Wiskoski will be on hand to discuss their exhibited work.

The painters have studied with internationally known artist Rob Vander Zee for a number of years. They work out of his studio based in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. As a group, they have traveled throughout the country and in Europe to study the local art and to paint the landscape. The artists return each year to the Lodge and its environs to paint. The artists works can be found exhibited throughout the Northeast, Florida and Europe.

The public is invited to join the artists for the opening reception. Dinner reservations for the nightly 7:30 seating can be made by calling 540.925.2314.
